Fairtrade footballs and Landrovers
Ideas from Seb & Vince respectively:
1. Fairtrade footballs. Just need to track down the guys who supply these guys and get our own print designs on them. Which means we need designs!
2. Sponsorship by Landrover:
"And talking about travel... I talked about the whole Afrika-plan with a collegue of mine during the christmas drinks and quess what; a female friend of him works and Landrover and is really into promoting large events etc. I don't know exactly what the story was (of course already had something to drink) but yesterday he walked up to me and told me it might be a good idea for me to meet up with this woman one evening, tell her about the plans and then she would see if she could help.Very positive of course is the fact that she's completely into this whole promoting-world meaning she knows where to go and who to talk to..."

Hot Rock
Went to a talk last night by the current organiser of Hot Rock, a truck that tours the globe putting up new routes and exploring mountainous regions.
Couple of good things to remember for Africa trip:
1. Climbing (finger) board on back of truck.
2. Weld on extra water carriers.
3. Spare tyres (they had 9 blowouts from Kenya to Cape Town).
4. Wooden planks and boards to help get truck out of sand and mud traps.
5. Stereo!
6. English dictionaries for the locals.
More importantly, good to see their budget - £4,000 for 7 months from Kenya to South Africa. Click HERE to see what it includes.

Mental note, need to get an HGV and/or PGV driving licence...

Meeting with the mighty Musa
Former Lovells poet and now star of the performace poetry league of fine speakers, Musa Okwonga ripped up the floorboards of Brussels with me a few years back and has been a source of inspiration ever since. Check out his latest offerings on www.myspace.com/ofmooseandmen.
Over a pile-it-high-as-you-like-lunch today he came up with some choice contacts for the trip:
1. BBC African Football Correspondent - Mark Gleeson (mark.gleeson@bbc.co.uk)
2. Guy who has driven from Cairo to Cape Town - Jono Felix ("My mate Jonny Polonsky - wicked guy, by the way - went across Africa, his driver was called Jono Felix; I don't have Jono's details, but I'm sure Jonny will have them. He's at jonny.polonsky@gmail.com.")
And his own literary agent who has just secured him a deal on a book about the 11 ingredients for a great footballer. I believe he's virtually written the book but is still working on the working title. www.hhbagency.com (Heather Holden-Brown)
